Rock Melon Sago Dessert (哈蜜瓜西米露)

This is my own version of Rock Melon Sago Dessert.
I'm submitting my post to Aspiring Bakers #20: Asian dessert buffet! (June 2012) hosted by Moon of Food Playground.

Recipe

Ingredients
1/2 rock melon (about 850g)
1/3cup water
1tbsp honey
40g sago

Steps:
1. Wash and drain sago.
2. Cook sago with water till sago turn translucent.
3. Drain and wash sago with cold water, set aside.
4. Remove skin and seed from rock melon.
5. Cut two slices of rock melon, diced it and set aside.
6. Cut balance of rock melon into big chunks.
7. Blend it together with 1/3cup of water till puree.
8. Strain puree and stir in honey.
9. Add in diced rock melon and sago.
10.Chill in fridge and serve.

Note: You can add more honey if you prefer sweeter, add more water if you prefer a more dilute puree. Instead of honey, you can boil some sugar syrup and
add into rock melon puree.

I'm refraining myself to prepare more sweet desserts. Afraid of the sugars but can try this one cos' it uses honey.

Hi Kimmy,

I saw from your past posts you had prepared very delicious desserts. I love desserts very much but not my boys so I seldom cook dessert soup. Nowadays kids don't really appreciate green bean soup, red bean soup, etc. What a waste!

Happy Flour, those desserts that I prepared are for my nephews. They loved sweet desserts and drinks. I usually scoop out a bowl for myself then add the sugars. Some of the soups are good for the current hot spells.

Hi Kimmy,

I really envy your nephews get to eat those delicious dessert you had prepared.

From your words it seem like you have diabetic. Actually I'm also cutting down on all sugar intake as my family has history of diabetic. Due to diabetic my father has a lot of complication at the later stage which caused his death.

Happy Flour, I'm not diabetic, my mum is. Seeing them taking so much medication worries me. Prevention is better than cure. Moderation is the key factor to healthy living.

Hi Kimmy,

Sorry for my mistake. I agree with you too. 'Healthy living, take less salt, less oil and less sugar'.

Hi, visiting from Apiring Bakers event. I love the idea of using honey. I think that would give it a special flavour.
