'Happy Flour' Chocolate Fondant Cake
Yesterday, I was trying out this fondant cake. It was not an easy task covering fondant on a 7inches chocolate cake. As I don't have a longer rolling pin so it quite difficult to make sure that the fondant has an even thickness. However, I had a great time dressing up my 1st fondant cake. And my family give a 'WOW' to see the finished art piece. :)
I shared half of the cake with my neighbour and her children loved it very much, especially the fondant and this applied for my sons too. My younger one kept pinching out the flower fondant to eat till my cake became naked. From here, I think children will love fondant cake. But for me, I still prefer cake covered with whipping cream.
This cake is really beautiful. So impressed! Is it plain chocolate cake and after you covered the cake with fondant, is it just leave the cake outside? Thought of trying it, but still no confident.
ReplyDeleteWow! Very beautifully done.
ReplyDeleteBtw may I know you make your own or you buy readymade fondant.
Thanks.
Hi
ReplyDeleteJust want to encourage you by saying that your 1st attempt of fondant cake looks beautiful.
I'm also interested to make it but have not tried...
Did you make your own fondant or ready bought ones ?
Blessings
Chris
HI,
ReplyDeleteYour homemade fondant cake is very lovely.
Lenny
Your cake very beautiful. Good job!
ReplyDeleteHi Anncoo,
ReplyDeleteThanks for your beautiful words. :)
I placed the fondant cake in a cake box and just leave it outside at room temperature. Don't worry, give it a try it not that difficult. You can try it on a small cake first, like me.
Hi Alice and Chris,
ReplyDeleteFor my past fondant cupcakes, I used homemade marshmallow fondant but for this I try the ready to used fondant 'Bakels Pettinice'. I found that this is better and more manageable.:) Whereas the marshmallow fondant is too soft and it will absorb moisture from the cake easily and turn soft, sometime sticky.:( Maybe, my recipe is not so good.
Hi Lenny and Cherry Potato,
ReplyDeleteThanks for your compliment. :)
Thank you for answering :)
ReplyDeleteI want to give a big "WOW" to you too! It looks really pretty cake! Lovely and sweet!
ReplyDeletehello happyflour,
ReplyDeleteit's been so inspiring reading your blog, I've became a homemaker recently (without kids) and have been very bored staying at home. It's been encouraging that being a homemaker can be so fulfilling, by making delicious desserts for your loved ones, watching your kids grown everyday. Do come out with more photos soon as I'm a frequent reader of yours :) I've tried 2 of your recipes and it turned out yummy.
Annabel :)

Hi Small Small Baker,
ReplyDeleteThanks for your compliment. :)
I don't have apricot gel so I just used piping jelly and spread a thin coating all around the cake before I cover it with fondant.
Are you busy lately? Looking forward to see your new post.
Hi Parita,
ReplyDeleteThanks, I used the ready to roll fondant 'Bakels Pettinice'.
Hi R,
ReplyDeleteThanks for your compliment. :)
You can find the recipe at Aunty Yochana blog under Fest Chocolate Cake.
Great Job... A beautiful cake.. So pretty.. no wonder the kids love it. Cheers Olivia
ReplyDeleteA tip that my cake decorating teacher gave me is to use a pvc pipe (u buy this from the hardware store) to roll out fondant. It can be cut to size and easier to handle the fondant.
ReplyDeleteHi Olivia,
ReplyDeleteThanks for your compliment. :)

Hi Jess and Anonymous,
ReplyDeleteI just spread a thin coating of apricot gel on the surface before covering it with fondant.
Lovely cake. I also love decorating with fondant and buttercream but when it comes to eating I prefer whipped cream frosting .

Hi Sadaf Afshan,
ReplyDeleteThanks:). You have a lovely blog too with interesting and yummy food posts.
hello there :) Does Bakels' fondant dry up easily? I am making a cake for my friend's baby's birthday tomorrow, but Satin Ice gives me the "elephant skin", probably too dry. Wanted to try Bakels but not sure if it's good.
